Frequently Asked Questions
Is a VPN allowed in Destiny 2?

Yes, you can use a VPN with Destiny 2. In fact, many gamers use VPNs to protect their IP, defend against DDoS attacks, and more. Bungie’s Terms of Use and Codes of Conduct don’t explicitly ban VPNs. However, if you use a VPN to exploit the game on purpose – like to break through geo-restrictions or gain an unfair advantage in the game – it may result in a ban.
What is the best VPN for Destiny 2?

You guessed it: it’s Windscribe! It’s the best VPN for Destiny 2 and gaming in general because it has everything you need for secure gaming: a strict no-logs policy to keep your activity private, strong encryption, and fast servers in 69+ countries. Plus, you get modern gaming-friendly protocols and support for PC, console setups, and routers.

If your Destiny 2 isn’t working with Windscribe, try these steps:
- Switch server locations

What countries is Destiny 2 blocked in?

Bungie hasn’t posted one clean “official list” you can point to. But in late September 2025, a lot of players started reporting Destiny 2 being blocked (often with the TAPIR error) in places like Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, plus a bunch of nearby countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, etc.). There were also reports from Iran and Afghanistan. This can change over time.
Is it illegal to use a VPN for gaming?

In most countries, using a VPN for gaming is totally legal. Where it gets messy is in countries that ban VPNs or only allow government-approved VPNs (or heavily restrict them). If you’re traveling or living somewhere with strict internet rules, it’s worth checking local laws first.
Can I get banned if I use a VPN for Destiny 2?

Usually, no, using a VPN by itself isn’t normally something you get banned for. The problems start if you’re doing “shady stuff” with it (cheating, exploiting, account recovery-style behavior, dodging restrictions in a way that breaks rules, etc.). Also, some VPN IPs can be flagged and cause weird login/connection issues, but that’s not the same thing as a ban.
