Updates on the Iran Conflict: After 6 Months of Brutal Repression, Iranians are Still Standing Strong

Unfortunately, the troubles in Iran have continued at a vigorous pace. What initially began as a protest against the unlawful and deeply immoral beating and murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini for "incorrectly" wearing her hijab, ballooned into numerous human rights violations (read: murders of innocent protestors) and rampant censorship of citizens and journalists.

A Rich History, Tainted

Iran is a country that has contributed to the intellectual and philosophical foundations of modern thought; mathematics, astronomy, poetry, agriculture - the list of Iran's historical contributions to humanity is so long it is actually exhaustive. It has incredible architecture, unreal literature, and some absolutely mouth-watering food (two words: torsh kebab. Go find it. Now.).

Imagine being a part of that country, then having to suffer as some power-hungry morons take over and ruin everything. It is both ironic and deeply offensive that a country responsible for being the first to open lines of communication between Africa, Europe, and Asia, is now being forced to close those same lines of communication with the world. But not if we have anything to say about it.

To those of you in Iran, and to those Iranians outside of it: don't stop the fight. Never stop the fight. You deserve to live in a country befitting its natural and historical beauty.

Never Forget

Since the start of the protests more than 20,000 people have been arrested, and upwards of 600 have been killed (according to more recent estimates).

Of course, due to the nature of Western news cycles, we don't hear much about the situation in Iran anymore. Not only do we seemingly have the attention spans of goldfish that have run out of Adderall, but our major media institutions are corrupt organizations pushing political agendas; they have simply moved on to the next news stories that will rile up the general population.

But Iranians can't forget. So we won't.

The Latest Iran Promo Code

Here at Windscribe, we are limited in what we can do to help the Iranian situation. We are located in Canada, don't have (or want) any experience overthrowing governments, and generally hate the sight of blood because we're weenies.

The one thing we can do is help open up those lines of communication again. So, here is the next 30GB code for our homies in Iran:

SETAREH1

This is a special one; it is code-named after a wonderful Iranian woman we know personally. She's told us all kinds of stories about how awesome Iran was before all of this, and we consider her our Persian Momma - so it's also perfect for International Women's Day.

Spread this code to all of your Iranian friends and family and use it for the powers of good.

Signal Proxies

Internal communication is one of the most essential factors for organizing, protesting, and maintaining safety during civil unrest. Apps like Signal and Telegram have been instrumental in keeping these lines open - but the Iranian government has been actively cracking down on these encrypted chat apps.

Iranian continue to ask the internet for new Signal proxies to circumvent the shutdowns. Windscribe has created a few proxies for this express purpose, maintaining an active one, and having several ready as backups.

We are asking our users, lovers, haters, and everyone who wants to help to spread this to as many Iranian users as possible; let's help provide secure communication to the Iranian public!

Future Updates

This is not the first time we have made a statement about the Iranian situation and if there are more major developments we will likely give more updates.

For our non-Iranian readers who want to stay as up-to-date as possible with information coming out of Iran, we recommend you check out The Human Rights Activists News Agency and the subreddit r/NewIran. Reuters and the Associated Press also provide many direct reports unfettered by the Fox News and CNN gang's opinions.

We know our help may be a drop in the ocean compared to the problems faced by the Iranian people, but if there is anything else we can be doing, please don't hesitate to contact us and we will help where we can!
