September Updates from Windscribe

READING DISGUSTS ME, GIVE ME THE VIDEO!

After last month's jam packed newsletter, we wanted to make sure we had enough treats for all of you baby birds to feast on... and lo and behold, we do. We've got big news regarding the Windscribe Apple TV app, a delectable little exposé on how the VPN market tries to rip you off, MV3 updates, and more...

Apple TV App

Confucious once said, "Place an apple onto a television and you have Apple TV." He actually said that. The Chinese government censored his work because Huawei got jealous that they weren't named after a fruit. At Windscribe we take Confucian philosophy very seriously, and so, it is with a tremendous sense of honor that we present to you... the Windscribe Apple TV app.

This is the most anticipated Windscribe feature since the on/off button. You've all been asking for the Apple TV app for what seems like centuries, but was actually just a year. We passed along your requests to our crack team of developers, and they looked at us and said... "how much do you want it?" And we responded, "we want it bad." And they were like, "how bad?", and we said, "Disney's The Acolyte levels of bad." They immediately understood, and created what could be the greatest TV VPN app on the planet. Available now on Apple TV.

MV3 Incoming... Thanks Google!

Google has mandated an ecosystem-wide shift to their new rules and regulations, also known as Manifest Version 3 or MV3. While details are rather technical, the important thing for you to know is that Google is making it harder to effectively block ads. Thanks Google, you truly are making the internet a better place. Ya bunch of pendejos. But the real question is did they make it hard enough to beat our developers? Nope, not entirely! Ad blocking on MV2 is still better than MV3 (for now). Since we're awesome, you can continue to use our OG MV2 version of the extension with its full ad-blocking capabilities on non-Chromium browsers (aka Firefox), while all extensions for Chromium/Blink engine browsers will be forced to comply with MV3. This shouldn't make a huge difference for most of you, but some may be annoyed by the limitations of MV3 - "Thanks" Google....

The Price is Wrong, Bitch!

Ever wonder how shady the VPN industry really is? We've made it part of our mission to call out their scummy behavior whenever we see it. Why? Because you deserve to know when you are being f^%$ed. Also, it reminds us that we are doing something right. The latest trend? Pulling the ol 'bait & switch on your customers after they have agreed to a price. They would have you think their discounted price will stay the same forever... but it doesn't. Read more here.

But not us, our price is always right

The Mythical CLI

Lastly, our developers have solved the age old mystery that has plagued men for millenia, the location of the CLI... The answer may surprise you, it can actually be found on our download page. If you identify as a Windscribe Linux enthusiast, you will be pleased to know that our CLI is fully released. Don't forget to uninstall the Windscribe GUI before downloading the CLI. Useful information? Check. Mild sexual innuendo? Check. Paragraph concluded? Check.

Wintun out, OpenVPN DCO in

Windscribe for Windows has been improved, much like our relationship with your mom. The Windows app now uses the OpenVPN Data Channel Offload (DCO) kernel driver for any and all OpenVPN-based protocols (UDP, TCP, Stealth, WStunnel) by default, with Wintun still available as a backup just in case. This gives OpenVPN users much faster data throughput, and increases your performance in the bedroom too (your mom told us so last night). This is why you use us, we have features, and can make jokes about your gorgeous mother at the same time.

Feature of the Month: Split Tunneling

Your parents' marriage isn't the only thing we split up. We can also split your connection on a whim, if you so desire. Say you want to throw on your favorite Netflix show, but it's now only available in Turkey. Instead of routing all your network traffic to Turkey for one measly Netflix show, you can use the split tunneling feature to select which app gets routed through your VPN connection and which doesn't. That means no more custody battles over your IP address. Watch our video to learn more, without the need to read!

Control Your D

Are you sick and tired of having to use split tunneling for every single site or app you use? Control D is the be all, end all solution for you. Go check it out, play around, fiddle with some buttons. If you love it, great, if you don't, no worries! Become the master of your network!

Finito

BAM! Another successful newsletter completed. We hope we've impressed you as much as we have impressed ourselves. All you had to do was give us 3 to 8 minutes of your time and we've left you smarter, healthier, and possibly hornier (jury is still out on that one). Either way, stay safe out there ya big beauties!

Love,

Team Windscribe
